Embarking on a Colorful New Venture
These days, artists like myself need to diversify what it is they are putting out into the world in order to make a decent living. This is because it is incredibly difficult to earn enough income off of art sales alone. I've already attempted to diversify by starting an astrology practice. Admittedly, it has been difficult to entice people to book a reading and honestly, if I could just make a living focused on making art, I would. For a while now, I've enjoyed watching artists on YouTube share glimpses into their studio practice and offering helpful advice along the way. Many of them have revealed the positive benefits of using the platform not only in terms of creating a new income stream for themselves, but also expanding their reach as artists and growing the audience for their art. I was interested in doing the same. But instead of simply copying their documentary style format I decided that if I was going to start a new venture by posting regularly to YouTube that I would want to do something different. Something unique that anyone could enjoy and even learn from. But what? That's the question I had been asking myself for the past year until finally in December of 2024, an idea hatched. It was an idea that I quickly became excited to work on that highlighted my talents and skills as an artist and provided value to the world. Which is what led me to embark on a personal new venture this year that I am excited to share with you here!
Beginning this February, I will be launching a new web series on my YouTube channel, entitled "Prism Power." It's a show where I empower you with facts thoughts and insights about our world, through the lens of color. This series isn't necessarily just me talking about color theory for the benefit of other artists. It will instead be a vehicle whereby I can contextualize our world by discussing the different ways in which color plays a role in our everyday lives. It will be a show for everyone - no matter your age or background! I like to think of it as my artistic take on "The More You Know" PSA campaign.
